Brace yourselves! This is gonna be a long post!!!! :)

We started this month off with a bang, well actually it was more of a beep beep … screaaammm … dash, drop fag, reel, strike, side strain, reel, strain, reel, net, reel …. and so on!

6lb Common

Then it went all quiet … no bites :(  However our 9 year old Daughter wondered over and said there were some Common swimming around really close to the bank, we didnt quite believe her (you know what kids can be like)  We thought it was perhaps a shoal of Perch or Roach, however upon closer inspection there were indeed about 6 or 7 Carp hanging around about a metre from the bank.
Perfect for STALKING!!
So heres me hood up, hiding behind a bush with a rather large chunk of Luncheon Meat on my hair …
NEW PB 13lb Mirror

And to end the session  i caught this lovely 8lb Common, with a gorgeous colour to it!!

That’s all for now, i’ll be posting another session’s report very soon! Keep your eyes peeled!!

Withy Pool, Town Park

Well today turned out to be a good day.

To start with we headed out to Parkers, got set up, baited our swims … rods out. Done. We were both on Meat .. with our special CarpDUO Ground Mix ;)

Steve had a screamer, FISH ON!

6lb Common! NICE!

Some dude came over and asked us to leave, as they had organised a kids match session, and there was a “big enough notice up” …. however it was written on half a peice of notepad paper and randomly put in the corner of the club noticeboard, so not exactly easily seen.

Seriously don’t like rude, arrogant people, just ask us nicely and we will gladly comply.

Anyway, we decided to head to the Withy Pool, located in Telford Town Park.

Setup again, and this time had all 3 rods out. (Parkers is 1 rod per person)

Steve opted for a boilie/pellet mix, and i stuck with meat/corn.

We sat for an hour with nothing, it started raining … and suddenly Steves rod screamed off.  He landed a rather gorgeous but ANGRY Common, 5lb.  Good start :)

Sat through more rain, even had to put the brolly up! Good times :)

I had my first screamer of the day! FINALLY … managed to net another gorgeous 3.5lb Common.

Around about 9ish we packed up and headed home, not too bothered that we only had 3 fish, its all about catching fish, so the wait for just 1 is well worth it.

Pictures will follow soon :)

All Bummed Out!

So we went to Holmer Lake, Telford at the weekend, had two sessions over a two day period.

First session we started early Saturday afternoon, got to the bank around 12ish and found ourselves a new swim, which looked promising.

As you can see, looks a nice swim with a decent patch of open water out ahead.  However, caught nothing all day … we were using Luncheon Meat, Halibut Pellets and our own CarpDUO Ground Mix.

I guess you have to roll with the bad times, so took it on the chin, was a nice day anyway, only rained a few times. LOL

On Sunday we went back to the same location, however tried a different swim, at the top of the water.  Nothing again.

We know the lake is heavily fished for Roach, Perch and Bream, so think the Carp are hiding out near the inlet.

I think our next tactic is going to be stalking, as there are no swims where they seem to be hanging out.

Till next time eh …
